The idea that there are people out there who would want to abuse children for their own satisfaction is scary, but there are lots of things you can do that will make a difference, so remember, even young adults can become victims of abuse…
- Abuse is NEVER okay so DON’T keep it a secret!
- If you have been abused as a child – it’s not too late to tell someone. Abusers just go on to find the next victim…do something now!
- If you feel that you have no one you trust – DON’T give up! There are lots of professional organisations that can help
- If you are concerned that either yourself or a friend might be in real danger from abusers then contact the police immediately!
- NEVER be persuaded to meet up with someone you meet in an internet chatroom
- DON’T give people you meet online your home/email address or telephone numbers
- If someone seems to be asking you a lot of personal questions leave the room straight away
- When you are well enough to be out and about make sure you have arranged how you will get there and back before you go!
- If you are in a bar or club keep your drink with you at all times and make sure it is covered to prevent people from spiking it
