If you know you are being abused physically, emotionally, sexually or through neglect, you need to know that:
- You are not the one who should feel guilty or take the blame - the person abusing you is in the wrong.
- You need to get some help and support to get you out of this situation, before it gets worse. You need to tell someone you trust about what is happening to you. This might be a parent, relative, friend or a person from an organisation such as Childline. For information about organisations that can help you check out our useful links.
- You do not have to continue to receive the abuse even if your abuser has told you to keep it a secret. You must get it stopped.
- You have rights as a young person to be safe. Check them out
- The Sexual Offences Act includes laws that protect young people from abusers. If you are a victim of abuse the law is on your side and your abuser can be prosecuted.
