Frightened, threatened, ashamed, disgusted, lonely, worried, dirty, disloyal…these are just some of the things you might be feeling if you are a victim of abuse. It is all of these things that might be standing in your way…stopping you from telling somebody what is happening.
You might be worried that:
All of these thoughts are real and scary and 'normal' if you are the victim of abuse and NOBODY could blame you for feeling this way. But, as hard as this may sound, you really do need to tell someone!
You need to tell someone who can give you and your family the help that is so desperately needed. Once you have told someone then the healing can begin…but not before.
Having M.E. can make telling people more difficult- you may not see your friends much or you may not go to school and therefore, not see teachers…you may always 'need' to be with the person who is abusing you! There are people and organisations you can contact for help.
Remember, if you don't tell then not only will your own suffering continue but your abuser may start to abuse other young people…even your own brothers and sisters.
