'Into the Light' - an exhibition by young people with M.E.

25 April 2007

The Washington Gallery

25 - 29 April, Lower Gallery

The Washington Gallery is proud to present its second exhibition by Young People with M.E./CFS.

In one of its most pioneering workshops, the gallery, as part of its education outreach programme, has sent artists into the homes of young people with this debilitating illness, who would otherwise remain isolated.

As with the last exhibition the work is inspiring, giving positive expression to the creative ideas of young people who have remained isolated in their homes, some for as many as eight years.

Painter Karen Coles has been working in a variety of media with three of the young people while photographer Suzanne Greenslade has been mentoring two others in photography.

The Washington Gallery, managed by Penarth Arts and Crafts, a registered charity, has an extensive education outreach programme that has worked with a wide range of groups in the community since 1998.

If you know a young person with M.E. who might like to take part in future workshops, please contact the gallery.
