Boarding school

If you are at boarding school and you have to miss classes because of your M.E. your Matron will notify your parents and your Housemaster will notify the other teachers. If you are still able to do some work, your tutor can send some to you in the Medical Room.

If you are too ill to be at school and you have to go home to rest, then any work sent home would be sorted out by your Housemaster/ mistress. Other staff involved in supporting you during this process will be your tutor, the Director of Studies and other teaching staff.

Once you are well enough to return to school, a high level of support and monitoring can be given from within the school community. Decisions as how to catch up with your work will be taken on an individual basis, taking into account your ability and the amount of work you have missed. You may be able to get additional help, so that you can stay in the same classes as your friends.

If you are too ill to be in school to sit your examinations, your school may be able to make special arrangements with the examination boards, so you can take them externally.
