Discover the true you!
Everyone’s always banging on about how important it is to be yourself – but have you really got to grips with who the true you really is?
Are you open to new ideas? Do you care deeply about the environment? Are your scrawling doodles on bits of paper telling you something that you haven’t picked up on yet? Now is the time to find out!
Do you doodle?
Doodles are the little scribbles and drawings you make when you’re on the phone or surfing the web. Because they come straight from your subconscious they can reveal a great deal about the true you. Check out the guide below and impress your mates with your in-depth doodle analysis!
Where do you position the doodle on the page?
Centre – you’re outgoing but do sometimes need a bit of time out from those around you.
Left – you tend to live in the past and can be anxious about others discovering the real you.Top – you don’t like to follow the crowd.
Bottom – you are a practical person, but sometimes prone to feeling blue.
At the edges – you’re naturally quiet and don’t like to stand out from the crowd.
What sort of thing do you draw?
Repetitive shapes – like borders and waves are calming. You are careful and patient and like being in control.
Bars and lines – you’re feeling a bit stressed and hemmed in.
Shading – just bored? Perhaps you’re feeling anxious or insecure.
Buildings – you’re looking for stability and safety.
Food – you’re hungry! You poor thing, you’re not on a diet are you?
Hearts – either you’re in love or you’re simply romantic.
Animals – mean you want to protect and defend others.
Stars and moons – you’re ambitious and optimistic.
Question marks – signify a difficult decision is on your mind.
Geometric shapes – such as squares, rectangles or triangles show a super-organised brain. You’re efficient and like to plan things out.
Eyes – show curiousity.
Faces – attractive faces show you are friendly and aware of other people’s feelings. Ugly faces mean you’re feeling a bit moody!
Are you open-minded?
Your parents are getting a DVD to watch together this evening. You fancy the latest blockbuster, but they suggest a modern twist on Shakespeare. How do you react?
1. Figure it could be pretty cool to watch a play. You like having different interests and making your parents happy.
2. Agree that they’ll rent your movie the following week. You’re not really into the whole drama thing, but hey, it’s a free night’s entertainment.
3. With horror. It’s obviously part of an evil plan to make you more cultured. You shouldn’t have to do things you don’t want to.
Your best friend has brought you round a CD to listen to, but it’s not really your scene. Do you...
1. Decide to give it a go and enjoy it?
2. Agree to listen to it, but expect to be checking your watch every five minutes?
3. Tell her no way? Suggest she shares her music taste with someone else who’s into that kind of thing.
Prefer 1s: Crikey! There aren’t many of us out there who are as open to new ideas as you are. Your quest for self-knowledge has already begun.
Prefer 2s: Being open to new ideas is pretty challenging at the best of times, but well done for giving it a go. You may not be in the mood but you are prepared to be pleasantly surprised! And hey, if it a new experience turns out to be a waste of time for you, at least you’ve learnt that little bit more about yourself!
Prefer 3s: Perhaps you know yourself better than most! Sometimes it’s worth giving new experiences a go, but if you know that you won’t enjoy them there comes a point where you have to be honest. So don’t wring your hands about it - it simply saves a lot of wasted time!
Keen on green?
How green are you around the house?
1. Amazingly green! You were born to save the planet and are always switching off lights and bugging your parents to get recycling.
2. You feel you do your bit and you’re cool with that.
3. You don’t even know what being green means. All the fuss about the environment is dull.
How often do you eat organic food?
1. All the time. You know it’s organic because your parents grow it in the back garden.
2. You’re not sure if mum buys any. You might mention it as it’s supposed to be good for you and for the environment.
3. You’ve heard of it but you don’t do the shopping so you couldn’t say.
Prefer 1s: You are certainly keen to be green!
Prefer 2s: You are aware of environmental stuff but don’t feel there’s much you can get into at the moment.
Prefer 3s: You’ve probably got enough on your plate right now. Relax and let your parents take the strain!
By now you must be feeling pretty at one with the real you. If you want to know more, all this stuff is adapted from 'Discover the true you' from Buster Books (ISBN 1-904613-25-X) and there’s another just like it called Best Friends. Look out for both of these by clicking on to amazon.co.uk
