Is your friend abused?

What would you do if you thought that, maybe, your friend was being abused? What if you had noticed that they weren't acting in their usual happy way? What if they were suddenly very quiet and sad? What if you had seen something happen?

You might be the most important person your friend has. You might be the only friend they have…so it's really, really important that you do something to help.

But what can you do?

Well, to start with, try talking to your friend. They might be desperate to talk about what is going on. Being a good friend is being a good listener.

Ask them about what is happening and tell them why you are a bit worried and…this is the important bit…try to get them to tell an adult they can trust

You could show them this website, use the links on this page…anything, but don't keep it a secret!

Never promise your friend that you will keep it a secret (and that is a very, very hard thing to do) because if you do, they won't get the help they need.

If you are really frightened about your friend and think that they are in real danger…call the Police.
