You know, most kids grow up in the UK living in really happy homes with their parents or carers. In fact, most kids get all the love and support they will ever need. But not ALL kids! Some children are abused by the people closest to them. Thankfully, many of these children are strong enough to tell people – adults or friends, about what is happening to them and the abuse can be stopped.
So, what does that have to do with M.E? Well, think about it! Children with M.E. are often very poorly, weak and tired. They don’t go to school as often as others and they don’t see their friends that much either, because they are too tired to play. These children can be too tired or ill or frightened to tell anybody. They may feel they have no one to tell or that no one will believe them. Scary or what!
You might not know exactly what abuse is or how to get help if you are being abused. You might be worried about a friend or a younger sister or brother. Don’t worry, the links on the left hand side of the screen should help you to understand a little more about abuse and M.E. and show you how you can stamp it out.
