Keep safe

There’s no doubt that most people in the UK today live in really happy homes, where they are loved and cared for by their parents, or carers, and other family members. If you have M.E. your family is extremely important to you. M.E. can leave you feeling so tired and ill that you need to rely on your family to help you do most everyday things. In a way, they are your lifeline; often providing the only real link to the world outside.

However, there are some people who take advantage of this illness. Sadly, sometimes even the people who are supposed to love and care for us can end up hurting us and whilst this does not happen too often …it DOES happen! Being abused can make you feel very frightened and alone; you can feel that there is no one to turn to. But there are people- lots of people out there who are waiting to help you.

Keep Safe - Jumping CharacterVisit the pages in this Keep safe section to find out a little more about abuse and what you can do to help yourself and your mates! But remember, the information is only supposed to be used as a guide as to what you should do next…it doesn’t replace the need for you to talk to a trusted adult or organisation if you feel you have a problem. You’ll find lots of links to helpful organisations.
